🛡️ Part 2: Not Just Favor—This Grace Has a Will

We often hear grace described as “unmerited favor”—but what if that definition only scratches the surface? What if Yeshua’s grace doesn’t merely extend kindness, but actively moves with intent—transforming the will, reshaping desires, and re-training the soul?

This is not the same grace described in the Torah. While favor (חֵן / chen) in the Old Testament often speaks of being “pleasing” or “accepted,” the kind of grace revealed through Yeshua carries far more weight. It doesn’t simply look kindly upon the soul—it governs it.
This study is tightly based on the biblical usage outline as describe HERE
🔍 Digging Deeper into Grace
Let’s break it down using the biblical outline from the Greek word charis (χάρις), translated as “grace” in the New Testament. Here’s what we find:
"It looks like Grace is a divine power (3a) that when spoken (Psa 45:2) as a decree (Job 22) may be responsible for the outward appearance of joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness in one’s life. It looks to have affects in speech (1a), in acts of good will and loving-kindness, drawing favor to be shed upon us (2). This power exerts God’s Holy influence over the governance (3a) of our feelings and emotions (3); it influences souls to turn to Christ, it keeps the soul in Christ, it strengthens the soul, increases faith, knowledge, the ability to display affection and to share these same virtues with others (2a). The outward appearance of the inward existence of the active operation of Grace on one’s life is the token or proof that this power is operating (3a, 3b, 3b1, 3b2)."
[3a] Grace is a divine influence upon the heart—the very seat of the soul (where feelings, will, thoughts, and decisions reside).
This isn’t just poetic—it’s functional. Grace doesn’t simply offer “forgiveness” as a passive gift. It enters the soul and actively transforms its core systems.
It reshapes what you feel, alters how you think, and rewires what you want. Grace trains your will.
[3b1] Grace strengthens the soul, increases faith, and deepens knowledge (2 Peter 3:18).
Yeshua’s grace doesn’t just feel good. It does good. It lifts the soul from weakness into wholeness.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”—2 Corinthians 12:9
Where you feel incapable, confused, or spiritually fatigued—His grace doesn’t cover up the cracks. It fills them. Strengthens them. Redeems them.
[2a] It affords the ability to display affection and share it.
This is deeply important: the soul wounded by sin becomes emotionally detached. Grace reactivates the soul’s ability to care, to connect, to feel again.
✨ Grace Has a Will—and It Trains Yours
This is where the mystery deepens. Grace doesn't just comfort—it conquers. It trains the heart like a skilled warrior, bending the will back into divine alignment.
This explains why Paul said:
“The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”—1 Timothy 1:14
It’s an overflowing force that brings love, not just law. Strength, not just salvation. Direction, not just pardon.
